Gluing down foam?

How does everyone put down their foam. I have spread white glue and then added the foam, but it still is loose on top. I then drizzled diluted white glue on it, but it mats it down. Do I just leave it loose on the layout?

I used Gorilla glue and weighted it down in many places with small ziplock bags of play sand and let it sit for a week.

Set up real nice. BUt then again I think Gorrilla glue is supposed to dry hard in 5 hours anyway.

I hope you put it down in an “S” shaped pattern so that air bubbles can get out and air can get in to help it set. If you just seared it all over it may take awhile.

If youare talking about ground foam, I would use a thick base coat of latex paint (ground color), sprinkle on the ground foam, then spray with either scenic cement or thinned down white glue.

For “gluing” down foam board use a cheap latex caulk, with some kind of weight holding it down. Read lable for drying time. For “gluing” ground foam and other types of scenic stuff use a diluted mix of white glue and water (1 part glue to 1 or 2 parts water). No weights are used, but a cloths pin makes a great holder for trees and other stuff. drying time about 24 hours.

Agree with Johnnny reb on gluing the foam base. Reasons I have heard for not using white glue is that not enough air can get to it and it never dries in the middle. You could take it apart if it is still loose, wipe it off, let it dry and give the latex caulk a go.

For attaching ground foam, use either wet water or diluted alchol to improve the dispersal of your glue.through the foam.

Good luck,

Check your hardware store. DAP for instance makes DAP 2543 Panel and Foam Adhesive …

For interior and exterior use. 10.3 oz. cartridge.

Puzzled as to why you would not use the adhesives made for foam this?

Mmm, guys-I believe the OP is talking about ground foam, not foam board.

So he was. Then … white glue and water w/drops of dish washing liquid

Try using a spray bottle with 50/50 glue/water mix. Treat it like ballast and you should be fine.
