Gluing PVC

Will regular plastic glue like Testor’s work on PVC? Or do you need a specialized glue? I’m planning on scratchbuilding a concrete grain elevator. Thanks. Eric Modeling BN in the Palouse

Hello Eric,

It would be best to use PVC glue.

Regards Patrick

If I recall, that is methyl-ethyl-ketone (MEK).

Yup, I think it is MEK. If you’ve never done PVC work before, get a couple of practice pieces. You gotta a be REAL quick putting it together.

Thanks guys. I’ll look for PVC glue. Eric

Any place that carreies PVC and other plumbing supplies should have what you need. For high quality joints, there is also a primer that is used, before the glue is applied.

Nasty stuff, though; use plenty of ventilation. The can I have lists MEK, as well as some other ingredients. Straight MEK for hobby use should work OK, if you have that on hand already for model railroading uses.

The only time I remember I used PVC if I explained would be erased from the forum…

That explains a lot.

Ohhh, comon please… is this the start of something personal? Just because your only response to an intelligent well informed statement of how assenine one of your previous comments was, you saying… “Whatever man” …

hardly a thought provoking or even vaguely intellegent response to a discussion… I will refrain from the blatently obvious comments I could make only to say that… you were wrong, you know you were wrong, but you cant accept you were wrong… thats your problem, not mine… like I said in the other thread, lets get back to the models !!! now grow up.

No. It was nothing personal at all. You certainly are touchy. The whatever man was just because I was tired of arguing. You sure can’t take a joke, can you? Lighten up dude. You weren’t like this on the old forum. We kinda got along. What happened? Where are all the insults coming from? You didn’t get that from me, man.

So if thats not personal, pls enlighten me as to what it explains…

And I dont recall insulting you, unless you see the fact that I pointed out your error as an insult… which would seem reasonable to me as you are obviously insecure enough that you have your job title in your signature, …and personally as a manager I would see loyalty as a victory rather than obedience, loyalty is earned along with respect, obedience is paid for, and can be bought out.

Just forget it, Karl. Those lines are from Star Trek. Do you always pick apart everything like this? Talk about insecure. I’m sorry you feel like you have to keep insulting people the way you do.

“and personally as a manager I would see loyalty as a victory rather than obedience, loyalty is earned along with respect, obedience is paid for, and can be bought out.”

I guess you don’t see that as another insult, either? Man those lines are from Star Trek. LMAO.
