What were the passenger trains operating thru Mexico, Missouri on the above mentioned roads? I think the GM&O had a Chicago-Kansas City train named the Alton Red Hummer, but I don’t know of any Burlington trains through the shared trackage of the Q and Alton from St. Louis to Kansas City. Links or pictures/consists would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance-Christopher
The Burlington operated the General Pershing Zephyer between St Loius MO and KCMO and the original Zypher operated between KCMO and Lincoln NE.

This doesn’t have anything to do with the topic, but did you know that the “Q” use to operate a special Nebraska football train that carried Nebraska fans. [8D]
Back then, the major railroads always ran special passenger trains for college fans. The Santa Fe always ran trains for Jayhawk, Sooner and Buffalos fans.

Christopher–
Your best bet may be to find an “Official Guide to the Railways” for the time period in which you are interested.
The oldest “Official Guide” I have is from 1953. It shows GM&O local trains 9 and 10 serving Mexico, MO on a daily basis. By that time, CB&Q showed only a pair of mixed trains, Nos 124 and 125, running Monday through Friday, and only between St. Louis and Mexico.
