Talk to the owners of the Soo 2719 in Eau Claire WI. The LSRM only leases the engine from them so they will not be providing financing for all the work. I believe LSRM is waiting on a commitment of additional funds from the Eau Claire group before proceeding with any FRA work.

I’d still like to know why the Soo Line 2719 is being left cold. My understanding was that she was moved to Duluth SPECIFICALLY so that, when her FRA inspection came due, the facilities would be available to do it, and so that funds could be raised, through her operation, to make sure it happened. (This information was published in Trains or in special editions of Trains, on more than one occasion, so I know I’m not making this up). And when that time came in late 2013? She was parked. I understand times are tough and funds are hard to come by, but were we misled on this or is something else going on? I for one would like some answers.

Freight locomotives look silly with white tires, IMO.

As an NP fan and LSRM member, this is great news! I have visited the 2435 several times over the years always hoping that someday she could be at least cosmetically restored and displayed indoors. My thanks to the LSRM and the active volunteers who are making this happen.
