Nice to see Great Northern Diner 1250 “Lake of the Isles” in point yard last evening. Car is in very excellent condition. Been quite a few passenger cars, generator cars and cabooses of various kinds making there way thru Point the last few weeks, a nice change of pace.
Point as in Stevens Point, WI?
It belongs to the RR museum in Duluth and was on loan to the Natl RR Museum in Green Bay for the last 6 months or so. Very nice car inside and out. Nice of the Duluth Museum to allow the loan.
Now that you mention it, Saturday morning, I noticed a car out on the end of the museum spur, where it connects to the Sugar Factory siding. Saw it from the Hwy overpass 1/2 mile or so South. At a quick glance, I thought it was the blind end of an F-unit. Guess it was the “Lake” headed back home. Looks like its making ok time. The DePere local must have shagged it back to North Green Bay, then the GB-Point shuttle job must have forwarded it.
Nice car !! My wife and I had dinner on the NorthShore Scenic RR for our anniversary last fall. Food was first rate, from a top local restaurant.
Yes, the WC/CN yard Stevens Point, WI
You are all correct. We own it, and since we are kind of tight on space this winter, decided to let them borrow it for the winter. They had a few private parties in it…etc. Since our season is starting soon, it is now on its way back.
Keep and eye out for our freshly repainted Northern Pacific streamlined coach!

Will do, I saw one of the old Metra cars headed up your way a few days back.
Hmm, Im almost positive both our bilevels were here this winter, and havent heard anything about getting another one, but I guess we will see!
BTW appears Walthers has made it pretty easy to model this car in HO !!
Haha yep, actually have on myself. It is pretty correct, although ours has etched glass partitions, and no booths like the Walthers car depicts.

Do you know off-hand what the consist will be for the dinner train on June 2nd (in conjuction w/ the Milw Rd 261 trip? ) i.e. power and cars?
Thanks,
Stack
I assume it will be their consist with our power, as was the case two years ago. They left the Amtrak unit on, but it didnt do anything. Our DMIR SD-18/M pulled the whole 20+ car train and was putting out so much smoke people pulled over to see it.
We may or may not use our power/baggage car, and our diner. I will check and get back to you on this.
