GN F7 Nose - What are these fittings please?

As it says in the title…

http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=70554

Each side of the nose door this loco has a massive pintle (???). Was this a lifting point or to support a large snow plough. My CNW F7 doesn’t have this feature and I don’t recall seeing it anywhere else…

Help please?

That’s it, and there’s no systematic application of them to GN Fs. F plows were all short in stature, top at or below the anti-climber, replacing the standard pilot.

Those are tow rings. Theres alot of railroads that didn’t use them, some that did were Milw Road, GN. Almost have to have a photo of the engine your going to model.

They are lifting lugs to raise the loco with a crane. Used when rerailing or changing trucks.
