Got another one for my Forum friends. I am in need of some pictures for the GN 18500-19499 series that are still in red for the 70s. (I find plenty of blue but very few red.) The only picture I have is one of 18989 which I was given via Facebook and I found that one on another picture site as well. I am looking to weather a couple that I have in that series to work with my era of 1972 to the BN-Frisco merger.
As usual, any assistance that can be provided would be most welcomed.
Or find someone with a good collection of Morning Sun books. I have an old Silver Streak kit for a double sheathed wood GN boxcar in the vivid red paint scheme, so assuming Silver Streak had the paint job right (and as a rule they were pretty good about that) that was already an old paint scheme well before the GN merged into the BN. Maybe there just weren’t that many left in red by the 1970s.
I would try the fallen flags site and look under the freight car section. I did see some of the box cars you may be interested with the red paint scheme…
I have tried that one already. Unfortunately, that one doesn’t have any cars in the series I need. (Although I may have to use the other ones for weathering patterns.)
I have tried that one as well. Unfortunately, the only picture of a red car is the one I already have access to.
That’s what I’ve decided what I’m going to do as I have been unable to find the second picture. (Of course in the process I found yet ANOTHER car in the stuff that I was given that I can use. This one is a 40’ combo door. I have found plenty of pics of those.)
