This thread is a test of the lock function on our forums. I will try to lock the secon post I make. Please try and see if you can still post to thethread. Tell me if you are replying to the first post, or the second. Also, try it a bit on your own. Maybe we can learn a bit about the lock function.
Please note- for all those who are presently taking the forums too seriously, this thread is not- I repeat not-a lumberjack free thread. [:o)]
I suspect that some number of individual posts in a thread must be locked before it displays next to the thread title on the forum page that the thread is locked (even though it is not locked).
There’s some kind of clue, in that sometimes, the locked icon shows up on the main page as yellow, sometimes it’s grayed out. of course, I have no idea what that clue means, but then again, I’m not a lumberjack.
It also seems like you can only lock your post when you first post it. As I write this, the lock option is at the lower right hand corner. But, if I try to unlock it, I’m not sure I’m able.
Edit: I was able to ulock this post through the edit function. I’m going to go back and lock the first post in this thread, and see if it locks the whole thread.
Maybe everybody should post and lock on this thread a bit, and see if bucyrus’ theory has any weight? Perhaps it is self-locking after a certain number, or a certain percentage of the posts on a thread are self-locked?
After that last post, I went back to the main page, and the thread did not show as being locked. Maybe it only shows as being locked if the last post is self-locked?
I’ll lock this post to see if that theory holds any water.
