Most of us are familiar with the “Chessie”, the C&O luxury streamliner which never operated. Does anybody know anything about the proposed “Golden Rocket”, a triweekly Chicago-LA streamliner to be operated by RI and SP. One set of equipment was actually built. Why was this train never operated?
