Good HO scale shops around Hartford, CT?

Greetings,

I will be traveling to Hartford, CT here soon.

Can you recommend any good HO scale hobby shops in the area (looking more at rolling stock)? Conn, western Mass, RI, or eastern NY would be fine.

Thanks,

Mark

I’d look in the back of the Model Railroader. They are becoming far and few between. There is one in Rapid City, but I did not get a chance to see it when I was there.

Phone books may list some but those are no longer common… Phone books or hobby shops.

ROAR

Railworks in Brookfield CT is where I go. It’s on Federal Rd. near Danbury.

You will find one in West Springfield Ma. about 45 minutes from Hartford CT.

I have been using this LHS for quite a few years. Easy to get to from Rt 91 in West Springfield, MA. About 45 min. North of Hartford. There is a trolley museum a few miles North of Hartford before you get to MA state line that might interest you.

Mark a couple of my favorites are The Hobby Gallery, 1810 Meriden Rd (rte 322) in Wolcot Ct. and Tom’s Trains 925 Silas Dean Hwy in Wethersfield Ct., Tom’s hours are Wed. - Sat. 11-6. The Gallery’s hours are Tue, Wed & Fri. 10-6, Thu 10-8, Sat. 9-5, Sun. 1-5, closed Mon. Neither are very far.

Den.

I will second Den’s recommendation for Tom’s. It is a very small place but packed with stock. Carries almost all major brands and sells at discount prices. There is some N but majority is HO. Its worth a trip to browse. For those of you outside of CT, Tom does travel to some shows in the Northeast/Mid-Atlantic. Timonium and Amherst for example. So check him out if you see his booth at a show.
