Good news! 2008 Walthers books...

Walthers announced that the 2008 HO Walthers Reference Books will again be at the low MSRP of 9.98 each!

The '07 books were sold out before the end of April, so if you want one, it’s a good idea to pre-order a book with your dealer.

My LHS had one '07 at 9.95 one left untill may! You could guess who got it[:D]

Cool! I was wondering about that. Thanks for the info!

What all can be found in the Walther’s books other than a list of their products? Are there decals, modeling tips, anything like that? To me it still doesn’t make sense to pay even $9.95 for something that I can get on the internet from www.walthers.com any time I want, including whether or not the product is in stock, but if there were enough extras in there it might be worth the $9.95.

$9.95!!! FOR A WALTHERS REFERENCE BOOK!!! YEEEEEHAAAAAW! I am gonna whip out my cell phone and order me one of the N scale ones.

It’s manly for Hobbie shop dealers. It’s also for people who don’t have a computer, and for people how want to order right out from the book so they know what there getting. I get it because it’s right there, don’t have to turn on the computer. Like at night if I get an idea, I don’t want to get up and go down to the base ment and wait for 5 minuets to find out they don’t even have it. I could just pick up the book and look. I also like looking at the “Magic of Moadelrailroading section”. They also give proto-type info, and modeling tips.

I like it for the product pictures. You can’t find pics of some things online. (aka bump)

I like having the Walthers reference book, it’s hard to go online from the bathroom.

[:-^] LOL!!! Plus, using the marker or pen on the computer screen to circle things for future purchase gets, um, expensive…

And, putting post-its on the screen to remind the wife for birthday ideas does not work nearly as well!

Good deal, I would want to get a copy!

I dont know how long we got a copy every year but sure aint stopping now! Not at that price.

You need a laptop and a wireless router. Or a toilet with 100 Base-T Ethernet.

Or Google TiSP!

LOL, you beat me to it, LOL.

I was wondering if Walthers Lowered their price if they would keep it lowered, They probably saw how big a seller they were once they cut the price and went. Hay maybe we should keep doing this.

Good deal…probably cost more than that to print, too bad they cant include Athern & MDC etc.

I’m glad that the price is staying down. I like to use the Walthers books when I am looking for a certain building or other model but don’t have a specific manufacturer in mind. Furthermore, I have found out about many companies through the catalog that I woudl have missed otherwise.

Oh oh – someone’s catalog has been, as Seinfeld put it, totally tagged.

The longer you are in the hobby the more you appreciate hanging on to older Walthers catalogs. Products come and go and it is often painful to see how I passed up the chance to buy a structure or other product that is exactly what I need, and which is no longer made. But if you know that it once existed, and who made it, you can keep an eye out at swap meets, Ebay etc. I often look through the 1976 Walthers catalog – if only to weep at the prices.

Have always bought their used books for reference, but at that price I will buy their new one and i’m sure they make money on the book, just not as much as they used to per book but with more volume, same money! As for why to buy, it gives correct spelling for use in online lookups, msrp so you know that the guy charging $20 for some widget is ripping you off when smrp is $10, also the old ones are good for finding out what was avalible so you can look on ebay for oop models you may want, hard to buy what you never seen!!!

I wonder if they just found a cheaper country to have them printed in. Anybody know where they were printed last year? (I don’t have a copy)

Printed in the USA
