All Soundtraxx products are [bow]MADE IN THE U.S.A.[bow]!!! Expensive nontheless, but a good deed on Soundtraxx’s part. When I build my first layout, I know who is going to get my DCC business…[:D]
I’d change that to “assembled in the USA”. Since I work in a virtually identical business, I’ll lay money down that 99% of the parts that go into a Soundtraxx board are made in either SE Asia or Israel. The only major part of a Soundtraxx decoder or assembly that MIGHT be built in the USA is the PC board itself, considering The Taiwanese and Japanese PCB manufacturers don’t like to be bothered with small batch production of boards.
I wonder where QSI and MRC sound decoders are being made? Considering their low costs, I’d assume South Korea.
You can get Soundtraxx decoders at discounted prices at
Great service! Bruce knows the Soundtraxx owners personally. Additionally he’s very good about answering DCC related questions whether you purchase from him or not.
I will be purchasing all of my Soundtraxx decoders from Litchfield Station.
As soon as Tsunami is released and bugs have been worked out, I’m refitting everything with those…
Rob
I’m not sure about QSI, but MRC sound decoders are marked as “Made in China.” The Lionel Challenger also is made in China, as are all Bachmann products that I have seen in the past year or so, and Athearn Genesis products, and… what’s NOT made in China?
Train Control Systems, Digitrax, North Coast Engineering, and EasyDCC (CVP Products) are all made in the U.S. Lenz systems and decoders are made in Giessen, Germany, and Roco is made in Austria.
One note about Athearn Genesis: At a train show I was looking at the box of a Genesis SD-70, and the SD series must be euther all or partly made in the USA, as that is what the box read on the side. The F-units, however, are still made in China (but the highliners body shell is made here.). I hope the new Challenger is made in Compton, CA, too but it probably won’t be.
Cacole, thanks for telling me that all of the DCC manufacturers I’d buy from manufacture in the USA. You couldn’t get me to buy MRC, I have heard they are junk.
