Good. train stores in N.E. Pa

Visiting Northeast Pa. next weekend and just wondering if there are any good stores left in that area.

Here is a list of hobby shops in PA:

I have no idea as to how good any of them are.

If you can make it to Montoursville (just east of Williamsport) English’s Model Train Supply is well worth it, also since it is the home of Bowser Trains!

Northeast as in general area, or Northeast PA as in the specific town? Yes, there is a town called North East, PA. The best part is - it’s in the northwestern corner of the state up near Erie! If you mean then general area, where were you planning to stay and visit?

Just as a note, this is not an all inclusive list. It is missing 3 from my area, and includes one that has been closed, for quite some time too…

If you are referring to the general area of Northeastern Pa, I am not of help… Now, North East Pa, the town, on the other hand…

I second English’s if you’re in that area. Have to love Pennsylvania. Bradford County is in NE PA, but Bradford (the city) is in McKean County (NW PA), and the Borough of McKean is in Erie County!

my favorites were (in order)

JD Whistle Stop - Quakertown

Nicholas Smith - Broomal

Linn’s Junction - Landsdale

I haven’t lived in that area for about 10 years, so I can’t say that they’re held up well, but they’re the only ones I went to still around.

And, don’t forget Venango… There’s the county, a small village (in Crawford county), a pair of townships (one each in Crawford and Erie county) … And all 4 are in north-western Pa…And 4 different locations… Confused yet?

Are you going to also visit Steamtown in Scranton?

Toy Train Heaven USED to have a shop in NE PA, but they seem to have gone all to net ordering. The last time I was there it was "closed’ off. There are a variety of them around PA I have been too, but they are scattered…

good luck in finding them, as I am unsure exactly where you are going?

Toy Train Heaven has always been English’s/Bowser’s mail order service

A third vote for a trip to English’s, if you’re headed to Montoursville (just east of Williamsport). Great store, great guys, and theyre well-stocked. I don’t know what train shops still exist in Scranton/Wilkes-Barre or other areas of NE PA.

Not to nitpick, but English’s is located in Lycoming County, not Bradford County. I try to get there once a year (down from 1-2 times a month pre-marriage) to poke around, shoot the bull with them, and see what else I “need” when I see it.
