Ok it is the time next week that the WSOR is replacing the arthritis rail with CWR. should i get any pictures of the circa 1925 rail or not. i am gonna get much video watching them replace the arthritis rail and probably lots of pics too. Is it worth the time to get the pics of the dates on the rail or not? i hope that i can get a vid of them welding the erail you think that they would let me?

If you want to find OLD RAIL. Come on out to SW KS on the Cimarron Valley Railroad(CVR), its the old Santa Fe branches from Dodge City to Boise City, and out to Springfield CO. OK, 1st off, The Dodge line has 110 pound jointed, the line west of Satanta to Boise City is 90 pound rail, and the Manter Sub to Springfield from Satanta. The first 45 miles is 85 pound rail circa 1905- 1910, there is some rail that was milled in 1902 at Johnson. (MP45). West of there to Springfield is 90 pound with Webber joints. You don’t see those everyday anymore.

If you can stand well out of the way, on public property, or in your yard, you should be able to video the process. It is a neat process to watch. Just make sure you are out of the way. A tripod and zoom lens will come in handy.

Neat stuff. Finding old, light rail has been a side hoby of sorts for me.

Someone on here told me that there was some 65lbs rail at Metcaff, Illinois on what remains of the old Nickle Platte line. I went to investigate, but did not find it. Perhaps I did not have enough time to do an adequate search.

I was very excited to hear about it, though. As 65lbs rail on that line very likely dated back to the short line days!
