Goodbye...

Hello one and all,

as the coffee shoppers know, I have decided to move on from US prototype modelling, in favour of a local prototype.
Mainly because when i got into MR 10 years ago there was bugger all available in local prototypes compared to now, plus ease of reference photos.

Now to the farewell part,

To anyone who helped me over my two years here on the forums, THANKYOU! you are truly valued members, and to everyone in general, you guys are great!
I really have enjoyed my time here, the banter, the help, the jokes etc, its all part of a great forum!

So my parting words now,

Another thankyou to everyone here, for being so friendly and open minded, especially some guy from down under [:D] thanks for the memories!

Farewell,ciao,good day etc etc

Peace AND high greens!

James

[:(][:(]

Goodbye James, it’s been nice knowing you. You will be sorely missed.

You are welcome to talk about your prototype here, it is still model trains right?? Anyways, if you still decide to leave, goodbye. It was nice talking with you. Please do come back to say HI.

Hey this is not a RR specific forum it does not matter weather you model the up or sp. So stick around and talk about your new RR, it would give us all some info on a type of railroading most of us do not no that much about.[^] If you do decide 2 leave good luck with your model trains and life in general. Tim

later.

Good luck to you, James, and please don’t make it goodbye! Drop in and show us some pics of your progress.

Tom

James, we will miss you in the Coffee Shop, I hope you do visit us from time to time.

James, will you drop in now and then, or is this really the heave-ho?

Sorry to see you go if the latter.

-Crandell

The guys in the coffee shop convinced me to stay [:D]

Look out for my down under modelling, won’t you?! [:D]

I’m heading to a show next sunday, plenty of pics for all [:)]

James

Good for you, and enjoy the show.

Thank you not leaving James !

James,

We haven’t crossed paths yet, as I’m fairly new to these boards, but I for one am interested in finding out more about railroading Down Under, especially how you get those trains to stick to the rails, upside-down as they are! [:D]

I’ve even found some Australian train vids on YouTube. Those wide gauge trains look massive. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LtBMoQy-0Xg

Nelson

Well where I live we use 1067mm Gauge or 3’ 6" which is rather efficient, as we have the Fastest NG train in the world the Tilt Train, it has attained speeds of 225kmph in testing and it runs at 160kmph in revenue running.

That video is actually Standard Gauge, if you search Railpictures.net you can find some nice pics of the different states.

Try typing Queensland Rail, Pacific National, Freight Australia, V/Line, Freight Link, Hamersley Iron and BHP Billiton into the search [:D]

James:

Don’t leave us behind, I don’t know what specifically you intend to model, But I’ve watched many a unit leave GE here for Hamersley and BHP . In fact we just shipped some. Keep us posted, you guys run some massive trains down there.

Wow, guess i’m coming in kind of late on this one.

I was all set to convince you to stay, but now I see I don’t have to. Glad you decided to stick around!

We’re not modeling snobs. We like trains from all over the world! Diversity is the spice of life, is it not?

Anyways, looking forward to the pics. I know you’re pretty handy with that camera as I’ve always liked the other pics you’ve posted, prototype and model.

See ya soon!

GAPPLEG- I’m from Queensland on the Eastern Seaboard. I intend to model the local standard/narrow gauge operations toward the Port Of Brisbane the middle of the scene will be a suburban station, Not too sure if it will be prototypical or, as a friend suggested named after a band like Linkin Park or the like (there is lots of ‘Park’ stations) And as you say those Big GE’s over in Western Australia, and the trains they pull is really too cool, If i had more room I would model that [:)]

Thanks for the Kind words PC, I appreciate it [:D]

Glad you are staying!!! Please show us pics of your down under models!

I got in on this kind of late too, James, but I am glad you’ve decided to stick around.

I visited Australia in the 80s (Perth) and was facinated by the trains I saw there. In fact I still have a t-shirt I bought there. On it is a map of the continent with all of the city/towns in Western Australia noted in some detail, but for the rest continent it just says “Largley Unexplored”. [(-D]

One of my favorite MSTS downloads was an Australian prototype coal hauling railroad (forgot the name).

Heck, I’ve even gotten over that whole “winged keel” thing with the America’s Cup. [;)]

Well, James

Since we are both interested in Narrow Gauges ( as opposed to 4’8.5" ) you could model the Australian version of the Maine On30 “Maine-iacs” and do both.

Peace and Low Greens ( to you DownUnder from me UpHere )

Maine Two-Footer Fan ( On2 )

P.S. Glad you decided to stay !
