I finally got one accepted at railpictures.net!
Hey nice pic Congrats on getting accepted, now only if any of my pictures could ever get accepted?
Thanks. I might be able to help. Can you show some of them to me?
Nice picture of a NS loco!!!
Congratulations on getting one posted! Where is that shot from the famed ( by the webcam) crossing? [bow] [bow] [bow] [bow] [bow]
looks good
I’ve tried to get a few accepted - all declined within minutes of my submission! That’s okay - the challenge is on!
Very nice shot, Glen Ellyn! It also took me a while to get my first shot accepted. Keep up the great work! [:)] Nick
Congratulations, and nice shot. Thanks for sending me to their site, I was the 1,000,000th winner! Again! [(-D][:D]
Would you guys like to see a photo gallery at Trains.com (but without the pop-up ads)? I’m not making any promisses, I just want to see what you guys think.
Erik
Sure!
A lot of us have some RR stuff that may not be POD material, or up to the standards of some of the sites, but that are worth sharing.
I do think it should be at least minimally “juried” to ensure no hankypanky. That would mean some work for somebody, but it would mostly involve scanning for inappropriate material. Unless we’re more prolific than the average bear, the workload shouldn’t be daunting. The review process might also be an opportunity to see shots that would make good PODs - the submitter would be notified that a particular shot was being held for POD use in the immediate future, so they wouldn’t think it was rejected…
Nice shot! I particularly like the water tower. But, as picky as they can be, I’ll bet you got one of the more lenient screeners.
Which is why I WOULD like to see Trains do a photo gallery. I think the artistic judgment of RP.net is too strict and subjective and RRpicturearchives is too loose - they let you upload that fuzzy photo of your foot from frame 1 on the roll.
Somewhere in between would be better. I’d suggest the photo be techincally decent, i.e. in focus, properly exposed, etc. but no artistic judgment.
Bergie,
I would love to see that. I usually post pix at my personal site, and link them here. If there was a direct place to post them, I would love it. Let me know if I can help in any way.
Congratulations, neighbor Andrew!
(Actually, I got a big kick out of reading the first post in the order it was printed:
“I finally got one accepted at railpictures.net!
Watch them change over time.”)
Non-photographer Carl
I think that would be an excellent idea.
Enjoy
Paul
Congratulations! Any advice to us “unwashed”?
Again, I’m not making any promises, I’m just feeling you guys out right now to see if there’s a demand for it. If you have any suggestions for photo gallery features that would be helpful, cool, or simply improve on anything that’s currently available, I encourage you to e-mail me at editor@trains.com (with “Photo Gallery idea” in the subject line). If we decide to do this, I want your opinions and input so it’s the best available.
Thanks, everybody!
Bergie
Thanks on the compliments guys.
espeefoamer: It was taken on the Western side of the tracks facing east. It was taken a couple feet from the 9th street grade crossing.
No offense, but the Trains.com gallery so far sucks.
Anything such as judging rail photos or judging any thing is a subjective area and as such no two people will agree in the cirteria for success, even if the make the same statements of the criteria, Their personal perferences will always come to the fore.
Very nice pic you got there.
