Got my SW1500 from the closeout sale at Altas. It’s a blue box, but it’s brand new. I’ve been wanting one of these for a long time and I am very happy. I don’t have a layout to run it on right now, but I think a small switching table is in my future. [swg] Anyone order these? And what do you think?
Also, it came with two sets of side frames? Anyone know why? They’re different.
I currently have a fair size N scale layout, but its in the garage and in the summer I do not frequent. The SP unit looks great and I have always wanted one on a switching layout in the spare room so I considered it but elected to get more N scale sruff.
When I venture into HO I intend to go all in for sound and all the bells and whistles so I will likely not go with the blue box.
I ordered 5 units. A couple to use and the rest to paint in unavailable schemes.
Because the prototype was offered with a choice of two different trucks, so Athearn gave you that choice as well.
