Hum Ivanhen, but does the other person?[^]

If you folks have not figured it out yet with the helix comment, Big Jerr is a ringer. He is a run your train in the weeds kind of guy. More than likely he has had inside trains before.

Cuda Ken

I got my info on helixes reading here ,and there is no comparison from garden to what you folks do, eccept for the drive train of the trains.theres 1:20,1:22,1:24,1:29&1:32 scales .worst of it is theres no standards so prototypical is a little off…but always a big hit at bbQs & family gatherings, the outside is wonderfull but weather, weeds ,scenery thats scale today but full trees or bushes next year, and knees that get tired …but the real killer is when the manufacturer that really started it all just exits the hobby(orSPORT)…so I want a little change to somthing that I can count on rain or shine eazy on the back & knees, and a little more operational interest.but make no mistake I learn more reading here than any where…Jerry

Athearn can’t be matched for durability. It’ll probably be runnin after you croak.

I have one of Athearn’s RS-3’s. The downsides are: 1. It is hard to take the shell off & may not go back on correctly. 2. Athearn’s 9 pin thing is also hard to open.

Besides that… they are great little locos and I’m looking forward to add more to my RR’s roster.

Luke

Of the 9 locos on my layout right now, 5 are Athearn’s, 3 are Proto 2000’s and 1 is an Atlas. I don’t count the Bachmann 4-6-2 in the park because it’s an exhibit, not a runner,

How did you manage to mispell the word LOCO? Your title says you got a new LOCCO.

He are a modelor like the rest of uz, not a spellir.

Congrats on the first Loco, and don’t mind him [:-^]

How did you manage to misspellmisspell”?

David B

Easy Mr. David I typed superfast before I got off work and that is how I managaed to misspell the word misspell.

My first ‘loke’ ( I was influenced into using that!! heeheehee…) was a GP40 from something called “Mehano”… this was also from a misspelled ’ Yugoslavikia"…[:-^]

My RS-3 fleet keeps growing. Right now I have nine Atlas units, one Roundhouse, and thirteen Athearns. The Atlas units run the best, but the Athearns have nicer shells.

My first loco was a Cox SW1500 (same as Athearn SW7). My first train set was a Model Power set that originally came with an FP45 (made by Lima of Italy), but I wanted a yard switcher and the hobby shop owner sold me the set with the Cox SW1500 instead of the Model Power FP45.

David, Is there a fix for the bearing slipping between the steel pickup and the gear tower? Ken
