My old LHS in Deltaville, VA. is up for sale. He opened it 3 years ago with the intent of doing it for 3 years then selling it . ( never knew that and to me (not business minded ( but it doesn’t make sense to me especially now with the way money factors are . ) But anyway he said hes trying to sell it to someone that will keep it as a hobby shop. Really hurts as it won’t be the same mainly they didn’t do it to my understanding for the money it was basicly something to do as there both retired but I do know they built a place in the pocono’s so who knows maybe they’ll do it again as they may get bored again lol. Anyway I don’t see and kinda hope they don’t sell to soon. wish I could do something like that but thats more money than I could afford for a long time unless I would hit the lottery.
Is this the guy who sold you your TMCC locomotives? Too bad, but that’s life man. At least they got to enjoy it as they had wanted to do.
That’s too bad. My little furniture shop (also sells trains) called Thor’s is moving to another location that is FAR FAR away from me in a couple of years. I have probably spent more money there on locomotives but at least I see it run in person before I buy it instead of some picture on the computer. Too bad, he’s the one that made me get started in the hobby.
Yes Brutus that the one I got some great deals there in fact I got a lot of post war thrains there that I had fixed up and resold.
Sad news, indeed. I am fortunate to live near Northeast Trains in Peabody MA and Charles Ro in Malden. Been fortunate to have 2 so close, but I suspect that only one or the other will wind up the survivor in the short run, none in the long run? Ro has an on-line catalog.

Well the “good news”, if you want to call it that, is that selling a business nowadays isn’t gonna be easy. Even if it’s a thriving business (and the buyer is gonna want proof of that), it’s gonna be tough to sell. So you may see him stick around for quite a while. Most everyone is saying we are in a recession, and now the “D” word (Depression) is starting to circulate. Not exactly the time when people buy into a business.
