Got something done thats MR

Well Friday I went down to the basement and cleared the door way to the train area. I decided I needed to check things out its been 4 months. Track is still clean which amazes me but thats not the only thing I did. I ordered Ring Engineerings bliking EOT and have to say one thing. If your modeling HO scale in Modern Times you have to get some of these. I installed it on a Gondolaand it works beautifully. installation wasnt hard at all infact it takes less than 5 minutes if you have steady hands. Only wires that show are like the prototype. Works on DCC great. Well thats about all I did but spend more money on vehicles on ebay. Hoping to get the last upper layout benchwork up soon so I can build my yard the rest of the way. A family friends is coming and I got to show I have been up to something lol.

Ah yes, company. A great Motivator.

I was taken to visit a railroad under construction and there was no tension because I understood how the layout was going and where it was headed. It was a good learning visit for me.

Now, if the company did not participate in the hobby and knew nothing about the trains, I can imagine where it might be a challenge.

“Company’s coming” had a dual benefit for me. In this case, it was my in-laws from Florida. My father-in-law is 90, still sharp, active and fully mobile. He’s really interested in the trains, particularly in the construction techniques. I’ve got one of his old engines sitting on one of the turntable spurs - runs, but it’s got valve gear issues.

So, before the visit, I got no interference when I did some last-minute work to get the turntable (an Atlas pit-bash project) up to an operating condition so I could show it off when he got here. I’ve also spent more time than I expected “making progress” so I could demonstrate more techniques along the way.
