my two cents…I prefer cork roadbed secured in place with liquid nails, very fast and easy
What are you going to use the 2 x 6 for ?
Roadbed, I like Woodland Scenics foambed, secured with Aleene’s Tacky Glue. Also use it to secure the track to the foambed.
I would go with cork with liquid nails also. Fast and efficiant, but I hear that Woodland Scneics roadbed is supposed to be good too.

Me too, for N, but in HO I actually like the foamy WS stuff better. I’m not sure why, but it seems to deaden sound better in HO, while the cork does a better job in N.
Ray out.
I’m using some of each on my N empire. I started with cork in the staging area, and switched to WS foam when I got a good deal on a bunch of 24’ rolls. I think I like the WS foam better, but it is probably a push. The foam is quieter and 24’ rolls allow you to put a lot of it down without any seams.
Also, if you use cork, I always go over it lightly with a sander to make sure it is smooth and even. Can’t really do that with foam.
nfmisso - the 2x6 is for my layout board (it’s n scale)
would it work to nail down WS roadbed?

no, it is soft foam.
