Gota Love Appartments!

Ok so for starters you have to love appartments for their limited space availiabilty for a MRR. Well as luck would have it Jen and I made plans to get all our shopping done this weekend for x-mas.

Well friday was great! We had a nice dinner and got both Jen and My gifts to each other, a set of 2 peice pool ques and case. Mine is on order and should be here by friday, jen’s is on hold till then.

Well we went to bed friday night, none the wiser, and I got up at 6:15am to go to the bathroom and steped on to a soaking wet carpet!! The kind of wet carpet that squish’s water up between your toes! Well come to find out that the hot water line that runs through the footing of the building blew a hole in the side of the pipe that was about the size of a pin head and started flooding the carpet. I now have 3 custom Painting books that were nearly runied. Also I had a Racing Tractor trailer kit from Revell that the box is now runied but the contents were safe.

So needless to say we now have a hole the size of a small child in the floor of our bedroom as well as a hole in the closet where he had to get to the pipe. As well as a couple of patched holes in the wall from where they were looking for the source of the leak. It dosent sound like they will do concret till this morning to patch the floor and they should patch the closet today as well.

So we have been staying at my mom’s house for the last couple of days with the cat. An we hope to get to go home tonight. So how was everyone else’s weekend?

Sorry to hear about your weekend, I also have been down that road when I lived in an appartment only not as bad. I worked outside all weekend it was just to nice to be in the trainroom, but today is rather chilly, so the trainroom it is. Mike

Appartments or homes, they all get those problems, even new homes. Last winter I went to the house we were remodeling to work and cheaked around not expecting anything but out of habit and found the new laundry room flooded ( learned it was because a peice of flashing was missing as that peice goes on when you get to the exteirior shingling) then a peice of temporary flashing got disloged and created a stain on my new ceiling upstairs ( could have been worse).

I live in an apartment and do any repairs I can myself. Our management isn’t the most cooperative and frankly I don’t trust them coming over. Unfortunately my roommate is a major problem sometimes and has to be threatened occasionally. From a model railroad standpoint, I tend to amaze people when I tell them how little space my bedroom has because half of it is taken up by a train layout.
