Here is the answer to my comment regarding a back to work order. Waiting until Monday will provide the workers with a long weekend since they do not celebrate Memorial Day, and then they can get back to work.

How, exactly, would a government force back to work, a group of union workers, very spread out by geography? Give them a 100% tax break into infinity? Put them on the taxpayer funded payroll and give them a blank check?

Smaller economy than the US = greater impact. As well, service sector unions have walked out so often over the years that they have exhausted any public good will they may have had. Look to see it end quickly.

It is called “Back to work Legislation” and should the union and/or it’s members not comply they would be subject to large fines for everyday they remain off work. A third party would continue the labour talks and if an agreement can not be reached the third party would implment an agreement

Thank you Terry Warner for explaining to Jeffery Guse what “back-to-work” legislation is. The third party labour negotiator will have the final decision regarding the settlement. There will be no tax breaks or blank cheques given to the strikers by the federal government. They definitely will not be put on a taxpayer funded payroll.
