I have a Bachmann Gp-40 with dcc. It runs like a piece of junk. Is there any way to make it run better?
I pry shouldn’t say this but- Bachmanns don’t run good (except spectrum). All I can say is “you get what you pay for”. I hate to use the word “junk” but they kinda are.
What doesn’t run good about it? It’s pry just the way Bachmanns run but you never know.
It slows and picks up again. Its motor has no flwwheels. That is probbably why it runs bad. Thanks.
Yep. a motor with no flywheels will do that. You might try cleaning the track and elec pickup wheels on the engine. That might help a bit.
Replace it with an Atlas.
It’s probably the DCC decoder. I have three of these as DC locos that run very well indeed. The problem is that Bachmann’s factory decoders don’t have BEMF or silent drive, so they’re noisy and don’t behave well at low speed. Retrofitting a decoder with both (not a difficult job although you will need a soldering iron) should give a very fine performance as the drive unit is excellent - diecast frame, all wheel drive and pickup, and the same motor as they fit to Spectrum equipment but minus flywheels. Hope this is of use!
i have a DC bachmann runs just find by itsself because whells are a little warp and derails every once in a while.
