Anyone have any suggestions for converting a Bachmann Spectrum GP30 to DCC?
Have two that I converted over. I used the TCS T-1 decoder but any wired decoder should work. The decoder fits on top of the metal frame and nothing has to be cut or modified. The light board that is in the engine was removed since I also replaced the lighting with LED’s since the decoder made the lamps quite dim. this link will help you with the wiring placement and give other tips.

The link shows how to do it using the existing light board if you wi***o keep it.
Good luck.
It is possible I also have three of them, but no pics or diagramshow to do it
It is just like this one:
At the risk of sounding like a smart alack, install a doecoder in it. I’ve had a decoder in my Spectrum GP-30 for several years. Don’t remember it it’s a Digitrax DH-121 or a Lenz (can’t remember the number). I have some of each in my locos. Follow the decoder instructions and “just do it”. Don’t make this into a HUGH project. Just take your time and do it step by step. Good luck.
