When were EMD’s GP38-2’s made? I want to run them on my modern day layout pulling TTX doublestacks with a British prtotype 4-6-0 and an ATSF Super Chief. Does this keep with plausibility?
1972 is when they first started building them.
Plausibility? None in sight that I can observe. Fun? You bet. Go for it.
No, but its your layout. You do what You want. NS patched all they’re Conrail Units, but i’m not going to have any Patched units. they also stopped running steam, Steam will still make regular visits to my layout. I’m also going to have almost all of Americas Signature trains.
January 1972. I have no data for the stop of production or how many were built.
The original unit, the GP38 was introduced in January of 1966 and production stopped in December of 1971. 731 units were built
The D&H never ran their PA’s with CPR AC4400’s!!!
They also stopped running big ALCO’s when thet got rid of the PA’s to Mexico.
But they run together on my layout.
