GP40P-2 LEADING Amtrak Silver Star #92 from Florida 4-19-08!!!

Heads up CLASSIC diesel fans!
I just found this AMAZING report posted to the Trainorders passenger discussion board.

This is a 30 YEAR old plus diesel LEADING An Amtrak train.

Somebody PLEASE–PLEASE get a Youtube video to share with us over the internet. I am on the wrong side of the continent to see this thing myself. Thank you so very very much!

Well, I guess the worm has finally turned. See what happens when you take really good care of the locomotives? Amtrak needing a hand from N.C. DOT; well, well, well, [#dots] .

One query: did they have to switch engines at the state border? [swg]

I bet that GP40 dragged those P42’s like a rag doll. That is one fast sucker. The speed cut-off is at 90 MPH and has the loudest horn’s I have ever heard. I jumped when hearing him in Salisbury and left me with a ear ache for minutes to come. I would have loved to catch “The City of Raleigh” through Folkston rather than the usual P42’s.
