A high hood for the NS.

The model below is a very light weathered box car.

Boy talk about ready to run. Weathered box cars. What’s next ? Pre-broken handrails for the physical challanged like me ![:I]

That would be Norfolk Southern, not Norfolk & Western. The three Southern GP40Xs were inherited by NS.

No joke, at least people like Aggro might have a chance to get a side job working for Athearn weathering their models. I know Walthers is doing something similar with their “patch job” paint jobs.

This makes me wonder if we should change the name of the hobby to “scale railroading” since the modeling part is being taken away from us with these big time RTR’s.

Thanks for the correction. I forgot these were Southern units that became NS units.

The weathering Athearn is offering is very light and generic in flavor, at least to me. I do this type of work with an airbrush in just a few minutes. Aggro and some of the leading modelers that really spend time with detail weathering are light years ahead of this type of factory offering.

Wow, those weathered boxcars look incredible! I can’t wait to own one of those GP40Xs! [:D]

The TTX Boxcars that roll through here still look very new, but some have a great deal of graffitti. The weathering is a bit high on the sides for those Hi-Cube Boxcars.
