GP40X

I just looked at Athearn’s new products announcements, and found GP40Xs in Saint Lawrence & Atlantic. Where’d they get those from? The link to the announcement:

Thanks for the replies! Though I’m still a little foggy on those StL&A numbers… The Diesel Shop needs to work on some of their accuracy…

Here is another source Mark-

Somewhat diifferent than the Diesel Shop.

cool wondering about that myself

Didnt GP40X have the flared radiators?

SP and UP had flared radiators and the SP untis had the bloomberg m type trucks, very strange looking

Are they still High Hood or have they been converted to standard?

Peter,

The Ex-Sou / Ex-NS high hood GP40X 7000 and 7002 were chopped when rebuilt by NRE and leased to St Lawrence and Atlantic as 3209 and 3210, which in turn were rebuilt as GP40-3 mother units for RM1 slugs in Mexico and purchased by G&W (SLR). They are now 3805 and 3806. Can’t say for sure about the outcome of SOU/NS 7001.

Thanks guys.

Strangely, I see that Bachmann have finally put a standard nose on their GP50 model, luckily I have an old one in Southern colours. After years they now make a reasonably correct GP35.40 and 50.
