Any detour information? Obviously, there is way too much traffic for parallel routes to absorb, but I would think they would try to move as much as they could. Alternatives for some traffic might include the Golden State and Sunset routes, the former Kansas Pacific, BNSF between Omaha and Denver, or BNSF all the way to the west coast. At least this is west of where the Powder River coal line comes in.
Word on the condition of the crew would be nice. Hope they are ok.
Are truck drivers no longer required to be trained in safety measures such as calling the huge posted toll free number at all crossings to alert the RR that you are stuck? Do they really think a train is not going to come?
Mr. Welborn: not all crossings have posted numbers. And it would seem to be human nature that you can get out of a mess before it becomes worse. So the trucker may have spent his time to get free, hoping to avoid repercussions with his boss?
