This is my first post :). I’m from England, and have become somewhat addicted to the Rochelle webcam (along with some others from the US).
As a result of watching the Rochelle webcam too much (!), I have decided to try and recreate the railways in the Rochelle area in Train Simulator 2014. Here in the UK, it is quite easy to get detailed Gradient Profiles and signalling information for most sections of line, however I am not having much luck at all with getting the same details for Rochelle.
Can anyone point me in the right direction as to where I can find this information, please?.
In general, that portion of Illinois is close to pancake flat. There is a slight climbing trend as you go northwest on the BNSF, but it is minor. Gradient profiles can be found in employee time tables for that division of the railroad, which can sometimes be located with online searches. To get the elevation of a point on the railroad, I’d suggest using Google Earth for that location – or several locations along the line. From memory, the crossing is 790 feet.
