This region once led the nation in manufacturing. Now, they resist the installation of four propane tanks. Whats the matter with these people?

The loss of manufacturing jobs has nothing to do with the propane tanks. The jobs first went south to places like Alabama to avoid unions and environmental laws then out of the country. Don’t see the connection.
How do they plan to prevent leaks and fires?
The article does not give details into what the STB’s role is. While they regulate rail lines and operations, this involves a “customer”, and industrial development has been the purview of local government zoning. Also they do not say why the locals are halting it. Perhaps the propane facility does not have the proper permits for fire code.
More government interference getting in the way of free enterprise. It’s discouraging to see that even if you save enough money to buy property, get the proper zoning, and follow the building codes you still can’t conduct business in the USA anymore. Sad.
