Grain season has begun, and export grain trains are flowing via the BNSF’s Fallbridge Subdivision to the ports of the Pacific Northwest. Along with increased traffic, fall colors in the Gorge are quite a sight to behold as the evergreens become peppered with the yellows and reds of turning trees. Here, BNSF 4033 leads a westbound grain train around the curve at Home Valley, Washington in the last light of the day.
BNSF Grain at Home Valley
I hope you all enjoy the photo, thanks for looking!
Drool, drool - such wonderful settings. Goes to show that even from far away can be a good composition.
That said - I wonder what the photo would have looked like if it could have been taken from a boat partway out from the far shore - say, 1/4 of the distance - looking more upwards at the train and with the hillside looming overhead even more ? Maybe better, maybe worse - I’d like to see how that would turn out.
Excellent use of the low-angle late-day lighting to really emphasize and bring out the broad sides of those cars and so to contrast the train against the background.
Thanks for sharing !
EXACTLY! WHAT PAUL SAID![tup][tup] [bow]
Sure beats those monochromatic BNSF ‘worms’ we get through here.
Thanks, for sharing!
Thank you all for your kind words about my photo. I’m glad you all enjoyed the scene as much as I did!
Thanks again,
Wow…that’s a stunner for sure! Nicely done!
…A beautiful dramatic shot…a cut above the normal…Colors draw one right to it.
