Grand Central Gems trestle parts

Anyone ever use these?

I got the Grand Central Gems trestle (5 bents and 6" Deck w/Backheads) and am not sure how to go about building the treatle. I know to glue the bents to the deck spacing them 1" apart, but not sure about the side bracing, do I place them hoizional and cut some up for the angle bracing?

This is in N scale and the bents are 2.5" tall. Also, the wood they are made from appears to be stained, do I need to prep the wood someway before gluing them together or can they be glued as they are? Thanks, Mike

P.S. I can send pics if I need to.

I recently assembled an 8 foot long curved trestle using 40 of the Grand Central Gems HO scale trestle bents.

I marked the bent locations and glued them in place with Loctite Power Grab construction adhesive. I cut track support stringers from 1/8 inch square balsa stripwood and glued them in place atop the bents with yellow carpenter’s glue. Then I cut the side bracing from smaller stripwood and glued it in place with yellow carpenter’s glue.

Even though Grand Central Gems trestle bents are pre-stained, yellow carpenter’s glue still sticks to them very well.

After the glue dried, I stained the stripwood to match the bents using Micro-Mark’s Railroad Tie and Bridge Stain.
