Graph Paper

Is there graph paper for laying out stuff? Is it online somewhere that can be printed off? Thanks, Jake

I have not seen graph paper on line, but you can run over to the nearest CVS and they should have it. I just recently purchased graph paper at CVS in Ironton, Ohio.

Off course you can! What the heck was I thinking? Thought there might be something specific for railroading, but it would all be basically the same. Thanks for waking me up, Jake

Fred, best place to buy graph paper is Office Depot or Office Max, or Staples. You can get several sizes, up to 11"x 17", and 4 squares per inch to 10 squares per inch.

Thanks, most appreciated, Jake

[#offtopic] Fred, are you by any chance a fly fisherman? I have fished the Smoke Hole in WV six years ago.

My daughter is a WVU graduate and last night went to see the movie, We are Marshall. She said she had never cried so hard in a movie.

My Golly! Smoke Hole is my 2nd home!!! I keep a daily log of when I fish there, as I did a 5 year study presented to Trout Unlimited as to the streams ability to hold trout all year long. I am a bamboo fly rod maker and I buy timber also. You can see my work at www.AndrewsCaneRods.com Where are you located? Jake

I live east of Columbus. Chuck, aka Blueberry, lives near Cambridge. I had a buddy who belonged to a group that owned a camp near the WV-VA State Line, just south of the Smoke Hole.

Do you still fish Smoke Hole? Jake

Jake, I have a trick for sketching a layout using traditional tubular track:

For O31 (O27) track, use 1 (1.25) inch per graph-paper square. A straight section is 10 (7) units long if aligned with the graph-paper lines, or 7x7 (5x5) if at 45 degrees to the graph. A curved section fits in a 10x4 (7x3) box.

This is not exact, but it is close, within about 1 percent.

Bob, those are the numbers I was just getting ready to ask about! Thanks so much, Merry Christmas to ya! Jake
