Gravel company 1990's

What kind of cars would i use for a gravel company in the 90’s

If you are modeling in HO scale, the Walthers Greenville, 2 bay, open top hoppers would be good. Depending on what type of gravel your quarry is suppose to be mining, you could also add Walthers and MDC ballast hoppers.

You can use regular hopper cars such as 3 or 4 bay types.[:D]

The Ortner aggregate hoppers work well, too.

Here are some shots from our local rock/gravel hauler through Carrollton, Texas. I lost count of the number of cars, but maybe around 50 or 60. They are all the same TXU industries ortner hoppers though…

Hope this helps.

I am modeling in ho scale, what could i use for realsitic rock loads?

Look for model railroad ballast, and pick the right color- it’s perfect.

You can also use plain old 52-6" or 65’ mill gons.

Just do not fill them up to the top.
