Great DCC Speakers

Hi Guys

I thought I would pass on a good find on DCC speakers on eBay. They are very good full range 1” 4Ω 1 Watt speakers, two speakers for $4.49 plus $2.00 S&H.

They are too big for diesel installs but fit easily in a large steam tender. I installed the pair in series for 8Ω in an HO Rivarossi Cab Forward oil tender and they sound great. The decoder is a MRC 1731.

I built a 3.185” L x 1.22” W x 7.55” H enclosure from .062” thick sheet Styrene.

That seller has lots of neat stuff to “tinker” with! They have several other speakers in the 23 to 26mm range that have DCC sound possibilities [Y]

I’ll be browsing there for quite a while!

Added Info update about the 1” speakers:

The speaker magnets are so powerful that you need to cover the speaker openings to prevent picking up small metal particles between the rails. I went with a small piece of fiberglass window screen for strength and covered that with a piece of a woman’s nylon stocking. There is no impact on the sound quality.
