great e-bay deal

Hurry, about to expire. Walthers N & Z scale 2007 catalog for only $20.74, plus $21.79 shipping! No, I’m not kidding. And, by the way, there are several bids on it, so the seller is going to be able to sell it! I know everybody gets tired of e-bay rants, but I couldn’t resist this one. Although I see that the catalogs have sold out at some sources, this is still amazing to me.

Jim

Ebay threads should die forever.

David

I do not know why these books are so expensive to buy. When they came out last fall, the hobby shop that I frequent, (Modellers Choice on Upper James St. in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada) Gave me one free when I went in and bought about $75.00 worth of N scale materials, (A Peco switch, a couple of freight cars and some sceniking material). As I live in Toronto, about 50-60 miles away, I do not get in there very often, but when I do drop by they are most helpful and I almost always buy things other than what I went in for.

Blue Flamer.

I agree David plus the price of the book is a rip off isnt walthers selling them for 9.98?

Yes, that’s what they’re selling them for, that was my point–still amazes me that someone would be willing to pay that much for unless they didn’t know that the price was reduced this year.

David: if you want to blast this post, that’s fine, but I don’t agree at all that e-bay threads “should die forever.” Many of us have and will use e-bay to purchase locos, rolling stock, etc. at much more cheaper rates than many other places. As I’m a relative newb, bouncing questions off of more experienced modelers re: quality, durability, etc. can be helpful, and in fact has been helpful to me on more than one occassion.

Maybe it’s the hardcover edition?

There are some eBay threads I enjoy looking at (ie, the $500 Athearn SD45 Santa Fe) but some I hate.

Phil

Maybe a limited edition!!! [:P]

underworld

Yes! Absolutely! This is the Special Edition with the pop-up train in the center, and the cardstock pop out and glue up Freight Station!!! If it’s one of the first 100 of them there is also a “train whistle blow ring” included!!![:-^]

Maybe the guys in the bidding war are the some ones who ran the price of a July, 1957, edition of Trains magazine up to $76.00 a few years ago.

$2000 beany babies, anyone?

Ahhh. Ebay. One of my favorite subjects… I saw a MTL Southern Pacific wooden caboose on there the other day for $85.00 plus $10.00 shipping. I recently bought the same caboose for $16.00 plus $5.00 shipping. I wrote the seller and asked him what the difference was, and he replied that “he catered to the up scale crowd”… All I could do was laugh. How does paying six times the price for something make it any better that if it only costs $16.00 ?. That’s just stupid!..

Jim,

There’s probably a reasonable explanation for such a high bid-might be a leather bound first edition signed by the author(s). Who knows? If it’s bound in that scarce Corinthian leather from a 70’s Chrysler it could be a real deal. [;)]

I think we need a special “smiley” just for these crazy items/bids from eBay. Maybe a “smiley” in a straight jacket.

I’m gonna put a piece of cork roadbed on auction. Starting bid is $74.95.

Love the pola coaling towere that went for around $100.00, nicely done but???

I noticed you didn’t provide a link or the item number. Planning on bidding on this great deal yourself?

[:D]

Yes, I believe there was a link, but the moderator came in and deleted it…
