Hi Crew,
Got this from one of the members on the ACL-SAL-SCL modelers group on Yahoo of which I’m also a member. Below is the info and vid clip links. Enjoy! [:D][C):-)][tup]:

There’s an excavation crane (Second shot.) in this video that digs a
hole, the dirt slides back in and it digs it out again. Is that like,
cool or what?

Hey Antonio, you may know that I like to throw OT stuff into threads, so here you go. Check out the first car on the link: http://www.nkpcarco.com/future.htm
You may want to check out their product line. They have some really nice Seaboard cars on there as well!!
those are pretty neat. I’d like to get some animation on my layout,…wait a minute,…I need to get it together first. That layout with the hoe is awsome, first class details, great scenery, third rate fascia.
Thanks for that link Smitty. I’ll keep an eye on it, especially since I’m looking to have some passenger car configurations that are not available from Walthers or Rapido.
These animation clips, imho, are really cool. One of the concerns about layout animation is that it can appear too “toy like” if a modeler goes overboard with animation that travels too fast or the subject is out of scale.
But simple scenes, such as a ceiling fan turning, the rotating gas station sign, or a slow working excavator seem to add a nice touch of flavor to the railroad[dinner]
Of course, with today’s electronics, animated subjects could be set to activate randomly or at certain time intervals, so they don’t become stale after a while. [;)]
That hoe was way cool, Man.
There was a layout at the NMRA convention that had a volcano at one end that would “erupt” every 20 minutes or so.
Not nessisarily something I would do on my own, but it was a pretty neat feature for the show.
The vids were enjoyable. My only critque being that the back-hoe was moving too fast. Would have appeared more realistic if it had been moving at about 1/3 that speed. But still, it doesn’t take away from a very good job.
I’m still in the building stages of my layout, but I hope to have some minor animated scenes as well. In addition to having a rotating gas station sign, I’m “fantasizing” about a Faller-like system where I my Busch GMC fishbowl buses can run slowly thru the streets, making stops to pickup/discharge passengers.
Hey, we can dream! [:P]
tHe last 3 are n scale as well. Good lord, those have to be some small motors.
