Great New Hobby Shop in East Texas

Listen up! All of you that live in the following East Texas Towns, Atlanta, Linden, Jefferson, Hugh Springs, Pittsburg, Daingerfield, Marshall, Smithland, Hallsville and anywhere close to these towns. There is a great new hobby shop in Jefferson called Roys, Toys and Trains. Roy Riche the proprieter has been open for about four months. He and his wife Vickie are great folks and will special order anything they do not have in stock. We are presently forming a model railroad club home ported at his shop and looking for a place to build a club layout. Roys Toys and Trains is located at 114 N. Walnut in Jefferson. Come see them and if you are interrsted in the club, let Roy know.

Nice place, but don’t forget to mention Homers in Longview TX, one of the best LHS’s around.

Yes, homer is a great guy and has done a lot for the hobby in East, Texas, however he is getting older and has had some health problems and is not really open a lot of hours. Roy is open everyday but Tuesday.

Always good to hear about a new shop opening up! Their web site doesn’t appear to be up yet, but the domain name has been reserved.

That’s good news about the new shop in Jefferson.

I’d also like to put in a plug for Homer’s place in Longview. I used to go there all the time when I was in high school (I lived in nearby Henderson at the time). Homer was always very kind and patient with me, even though I asked a lot of stupid questions and probably sounded like a precocious little snot. It’s been many years since I was at Homer’s place (at least 15 or 16 years), and now I live many miles away, but I’ve got fond memories of Homer and his kindness. Too bad more LHS owners are not like that.

I’m (too) close to the Houston area but would like to check it out on my next trip to Arkansas. Where exactly in Jefferson is it from HWY 59?

Take right a the 1st stoplight (East Broadway) in Jefferson. Drive about a half mile, take another right on N Polk. Drive to East Dallas, take a left. Its at the intersection of East Dallas and S. Walnut. Maybe 2 miles total distance from 59.

If you can take a small detour, visit Homer in Longview. (Take 259 N at Nacogdoches) He has a tons of stock as well as some old hard to find kits. He is open Tuesday-Saturday. I called and checked up on him today, his health is fine and all is well.

Why do thay all have to be so far away?? All the ones in the northeast seem to be closing!

Yes, Roy is one heck if a guy. He keeps his prices affordable and if he doesn’t have it, he will order it for ya. Its only a 30 mile drive from my house and I love going to Jefferson anyway. We recently started up a club “The Jefferson and Cypress Byou Model Railroad Club” (i hope i spelled it right). Pretty soon there will be a websight up for everyone to visit. I’m glad that he has opened and i will support him in every way i can!
