I’m taking Thanksgiving break to decal my sets of Walthers HO Empire Builder cars in GN Big Sky Blue and Burlington Northern cascade green. Is there any online resource I can refer to to check which GN cars were in BSB and which cars got repainted into BN green? I do not trust Walthers decal sets and want to confirm the prototypes.

You’d almost have to go thru a GN color guide and find pics of the particular cars to go by, I don’t know if there’s any place online that lists all cars and when they changed.
Keep in mind that even before the merger GN painted some of their passenger cars in the BN green and white colors, but lettered for GN…and not all the BSB cars were painted exactly the same way, some had white thru the window area with the dark gray of the roof extending down to the letterboard…and that even into the Amtrak era there were still a fair number of green and orange GN cars around.
Just for fun, throw in the former C&O stainless steel cars with a BSB band thru the windows, and a few baggage cars still in Pullman green !! [%-)]
