Great Northern ‘Hustle Muscle’ SD45 to pull tourist trains

The unit looks beautiful in that paint scheme. I would love to get up there to ride their train. Congratulations to the Great Northern Historical Society for a job well done.

One of the best paint schemes ever, in my opinion. I have a n-scale one just like it from Kato. Runs as good as the real one.

Always glad to see classic machines in service. Even so, isn’t pulling a tourist train with an SD45 like swatting a mosquito with a sledgehammer?

Pulling even a one car a tourist train is a far better fate than being torched for the scrap value!

I’d be grateful just to hear that beast.

I’m a volunteer crewmember at MTM/Osceola, this is exciting to know I get to work with GN 400 this year!

400 wont go up to Osceola until after the GNRHS convention in late July, as of last I was told. As a brakeman/conductor and soon to be student engineer at the O&StCV, it’ll be nice to have the 400 up there this year.

It would be nice to see more of this in the U.S. In England, classic preserved engines are often hired out to tourist lines.
