Great Northern R.R. J Class Locomotive

Hello All,
Im wishing to Scratchbuild a J Class Steamer of the Great Northern R.R., Im hoping one
of you Folk out there might have a photo or two I could "Beg, Borrow or Steal" to help in the building, There just dosent seem to be any out there in “Internet Land”.
I dont mind whether the photo shows Coal or Oil Burner.

If by any chance one of you had a set of “Drawings” I wouldn`t say no as well.

T.I.A.

John.

I found this quickly on-line.

There are no spaces between the last hyphen and the letter “j”, but I’m trying to break the auto matic linking.

Maybe it will be of help.

Nice looking Loco but not the one Im after, She is a 4-6-2 satuated steam around
the 1910 thru 1930 era, The one youve mentioned is a fine Loco` to be sure.
Thanks for your effort,
Regards,

Centauri,

The GN’s “J” class were 2-6-2’s, they were numbered 1502 -1552 (J-1s) and 1554 - 1649 (J-2s).
The 4-6-2’s were “H” class

John,
Here’s a link to a keyword search at the Index of Magazines:
http://index.mrmag.com/tm.exe?opt=S&cmdtext=GN+4-6-2&MAG=ANY
It turned up citations for six articles.

Gentlemen,
Is there anywhere {such as M.R. Index} I might be able to view these files,
Id have to be the "Luckiest" bloke around to expect to buy a copy of the Mags in that Index??. I was only 3 years old when the first Mag was printed. ;-}
But, nevertheless I thank you one and all for the help and interest.

Regards,
P.S. Is that “1520” a J class?, If so, May I download it for reference every bit
helps.
John.

John,

Yes, She is a J Class loco.
If you right click on the photo, and then go properties, you will see the URL for that photo.

John,
For magazines such as MR contact the publisher for back copies or photocopies of the articles. Or, contact the NMRA’s Kalmbach Memorial Library :
http://www.nmra.org/library/
for photocopies of the magazine and book articles. The photocopy fees are reasonable, even if you’re not a member. Or, contact a commercial outfit such as Railpub:
http://www.railpub.com
for back copies.

A great place to look for photos of GN motive power is the Otto Perry Photo
archive-available on line at the Denver Public Library’s website. It contains
literally dozens of GN-related photos, including several of class J locomotives.
The address I have is- http://photoswest.org/presearch.html
That is the URL that appears in my browser-I have this site on my favorites
so I never have to type anything so I’m not sure if this will work. If not, go to
the Denver Public Library site and go to the Western History section and
input Great Northern into the search engine there. Hope this helps.

I tried the link-it works-takes you right there.

GNRick, What a Great site, Ive only browesd the site lightly but Im certain to find
what Im after in there. Thank you one and all for the interest and help youve given, I hope to one day
be able to return the favour.

Regards,
