It’s amazing what you can do with a shovel and a bucket to get a good train shot. lol
That photo was taken on 2-11-05. That is the exact spot where the cave-in was at. They dug that hole out so they could get traffic back to normal. The Hinkle crew doing all the work right now, told me that CSX would be re-bidding the job soon to start working on the whole “daylighting”.
The “photo of the day” that I took is looking down at what’s left of the north portal. The photo I have added here on the this thread was taken on 12-4-04. It was taken looking through the south portal.
A lot has changed there since January. Before you couldn’t see the track from the road, in either direction,above the tunnel. Now you can.
