Great Train Expo '07 (KC edition)

Well, the GTE show is this weekend, I’ll be heading up that way shortly to see what kind of stuff I can drool over this year. If you’re thinking about attending the show, check back with this topic post later this evening to get my overall opinion. Also, for you railfans in the KC area, give a fellow rabid-railer a shout, and maybe I’ll see you around the show…

I just got back from GTE and wasn’t that dissapointed. I managed to pick up an Athearn GP60B, several vehicles some figures and some tools at the show. I just wished that there were some better bargins.

I went to the show in KC today also. I met a friend from Topeka there and we proceeded to spend most of our life savings. Not really, but I did find some things I had been looking to find for awhile. I got to see some friends from the Topeka RR club and just visit for a bit. I don’t believe I saw any real super sales, but I did find some items that were no longer available at the LHS and that made the searching worthwhile!

It was a good show. A little more commercialized than I like, but that’s OK. I found a three pack of Bachmann decoders for about $43.00. That’ll help get more engines going until some more LokSound decoders are purchased.

Over all, it looks like they had a super turnout. I enjoyed the monster size HO moduler layout. There was some great quality modeling on display.

wife and i went saturday.we were one of the first patrons in.got some good deals but after a couple of hours the place was pretty packed.some of the prices some dealers wanted were way out of line imo.its no wonder they cant sell this stuff.wasnt to impressed with the layouts as i have seen them many times before but they did have a lot of people looking at them and that is great.one good deal i found was a new proto 1k 2 unit both powered f3’s for $49.their were others asking well over $100 for the very same units.sure am glad we looked around a lot before purchasing anything.also got a two pack bnsf coil cars for a mere $16.got a athearn f7 powd and f7b dummuy for $30.an all around enjoyable day but i sure wish i could attend the shows in the larger cities as im sure they might be a little better than what the show in kc has.terry…
