Greeley, CO

Just watched a “User Submitted Video” posted yesterday of the layout at the Greeley Freight Station Museum in Greeley, CO. The “after” selections were mostly of the flooding. Does anyone know if the museum has been or is in danger of being flooded? They showed some tracks very close to going under.

I was amazed at the amount of rolling stock in the staging area. Looks like a beautiful layout, hate to think of it disappearing.

VT was hit two years ago by Irene, but she hit and left in a day. Though we are still recovering, we didn’t have the long term flooding that they are having. Some officials from here that were in on the recovery planning have headed out there to lend a hand.

Had a grandson out there for awhile, came back before the Ft Collins fires. Glad he’s close to home.

My thoughts and prayers are with the people of Colorado.

The Greeley Freight Station Museum is fine. The flood passed them about 2 miles to the south. The museum was opened last weekend and they had 23 guests. A bit down from the normal 230!

I was supposed to be there helping out but highway US 85 was closed, such that I would have had to drive all the way to Fort Morgan and double back (an extra 100 miles). They sent a note asking volunteers from the south not to attempt it.

Thanks for the information, good to know it is safe. It was interesting that it showed up in the videos during the flooding. Guess that is why they mentioned that they pretty much had the place to themselves and were able to do it.

Thanks again,

Richard
