I’ve finally made enough progress on my latest project to post some pics. This is going to be a RailPower GG20B Green Goat hybrid switcher, based on RPRX 2401. The starting point, much like the prototype was a GP9, but everything above the walkway, save a few detail parts has been scratchbuilt so far. I still have quite a bit of work to go, but the bulk of the body is done.
Looking VERY good Dan[:)] ;if I were modeling the present day,I’d probably
have to something like that also.
My Red Caboose GP-9 is enough to keep me going right now, without
the scratchbuilding part. Kitbashing,yeah.[:)]
RPRX 2001 is the original Green Goat, that was/is used as a demonstrator. The 2401 looks much more like a MK series switcher body-wise, and was apparently rolled out late this year. There are only a few public photos of it available. I emailed one of the photographers that contributed a photo of it to RailPictures.net and RailPower’s PR dept to get some additional photos of it. I believe that the 2401 is going to be what production models will look like. There is also the GreenKid, which is a hybrid rebuilt from a SW model switcher, which retains most of its original form.
Dan,what scale are you building in? I’m not a good judge when looking
at pictures like that, but those look alot like “O” scale.
Whatever scale it is,that is some fine looking work.[:)]
I don’t know that I would explain HO that way, after all,for me it was
a good stepping stone to “O”.
I’ve scratched a few cars(hoppers, flats, cabeese) in O but never tackled
an engine. Like I said earlier;the Red Caboose GP-9s are really
enough for me right now. And they are kit-bash as you go.[:D]
(at least they have extra parts with them)[:I]
Thanks Noah. I plan on doing a freelanced scheme for my Maritime roadname, but it will be close to the prototype. Green body with black roof and white barricade stripes on the ends. I want to do the RailPower/Green Goat logo, but I’m still trying to figure the best way to replicate it.
