Green Putty - Improving Use

Like many of you, I use green putty to fill holes/cracks in models I build.

The one thing I don’t like about this product is its tendency to form a skin on the surface quite quickly — ie as soon as it is exposed to the air, it begins to set. For me, this implies that I squeeze out very small amounts at a time — otherwise, you tend to waste more than you actually use.

Has anyone ever found a way of improving the working time of this putty? If so, I would really appreciate you posting your technique here.

Thanks

Add MEK or name brand liquid plasti cement to thin Squadron putty to create a thinner paste or slurry. Drying time is increased, as is working time and adhesion. On the negative side, the shrink rate increases, so you’ll have to ad more than one application of putty.

Thanks for the suggestion Ray — I will definitely give this a try.
