Greenberg show this weekend, Reading PA

Anyone going? I will be there witht he RCT&HS modular layout. Bunch of others were setting up around us yesterday, should be lots of nice layouts to look at.

Randy: how was that show, vendor-wise? Any good prices that would make me consider going next year?

Prices were generally higher than I see at Timonium, for things that are sold by multiple vendors. They did have a computer show going on at the same time (one admission to both) so if you needed any computer parts…

There were, however, a TON of display layouts. Ours, a nice hi-rail, the Strasburg group (models the entire Strasburg railroad, including the museum), a large scale modular, another HO modular, an N-Track group, a really neat Lego layout, and East Penn Traction’s trolley layout. And I probably missed a couple.

Randy: Is that strictly a train show, or is it an all inclusive show? I think I remember that they had things like doll houses, etc.

Part of Greenberg’s blurb is about Doll houses. However, it is almost purely MR stuff. One or two dealers are selling matchbox cars and maybe one doll houser.

However, if you are not 100% standard gauge HO, N, or Lionel don’t bother with a Greenberg show. I have been to about 7 Greenberg shows up and down the east coast and have never seen a single narrow gauge item. Other scales than above are very rare and mostly brought to the shows, if found, by individual table sellers. I do go to the Greenberg show in my city (Richmond) if I need scenic supplies, etc. as there are dealers in this show that sell at bargain prices. I will no longer travel at all for a Greenberg show.

I prefer to save my “real” MR bucks for the monster Timonium, “Great Scale Model Train Show” as there is simply no comparison at any level to even a big Greenberg show.
