I have been a forum member here for the past 4 years, but due to circumstances and priorities, I have not posted here for about 13 months (yikes, more than a year).
It has been a long haul and the forum looks quite different now - I haven’t figured it all out yet, but I like the changes. I immediately recognize a few folks, but miss many.
Briefly, for those that may recall some of what was happening in my world… the health issues for my wife are improving (had surgery last September - recuperating continues for 18 months, so we’re about 1/2 way); after 20 years of dealing with criminal types I’ve had a career change in the past 2 months; our 3 young kids are growing up and are busier than ever - soccer, swimming lessons, Bible Camps; our youngest (a son) was diagnosed with ADHD 5 days ago, and further assessments continue; and we have encountered a number of personal losses - most recently a friend died 3 days ago. Some updates may have come in the form of prayer requests from my fellow Canadian buddy John Wood (a great friend and a very funny man) - thanks John. He said that he was going to check in at the diner.
At present I am doing yardwork, reclaiming my hobbies (model r/r, fishing, hobby farming, ATV quading) and spending time with family.
I have a few ? s and I need some pointers regarding the new improved forum.
is there a forum members list somewhere, so that I can start to recognize people ?
where is the Coffee Shop Diner for Model Railroader mag forum ? (the Toy Train coffee is decaf I think). I need a mocha and cinn bun. Time to dust off the pool table that I left in the back corner.
-good to be back, thanks for holding down the fort and for the welcome back.
Welcome back it’s good to hear from you. The coffee shop is now named Elliots in honor of the founder and was opened by OzJames Jan 1 this year. The powers that be said with too many posts we were using up way too much bandwidth so we moved to new digs in a pair of reworked dineing cars with the same staff and the ever present cousin Vinnie to enforce the rules. Stop on by for a coffee - Zoe is still on mornings with Chloe in for the evening shifts and Ruthie for peak times and special events. We look forward to greeting you there. J.R.
Welcome back. Sorry to hear about the challenges in you life but what doesn’t kill you only makes you stronger. Will pray for your wife’s continued healing. Must have been quite a surgery.
I’m beginning to recognize many of the regulars again. Thanks - free refills for everyone. It is a beautiful sunny day here in the Shuswap. Things improving all around. Coffee, yardwork, then back to the trains…
